Application of white Fused Alumina in refractory industry

December 04, 2019

Adding an appropriate amount of white fused alumina to the refractory can appropriately increase the density of the castable. At high temperatures, white fused alumina can also form mullite with micro-silica powder, which improves the high-temperature strength of the castable. Adding appropriate low-carbon white fused alumina powder to the refractory material can effectively improve the performance of the refractory material, the high temperature resistance of the refractory material will be greatly improved, and the rate of change of the refractory line will also increase.

What is white Fused Alumina ?

White fused alumina is an artificial corundum produced by using industrial alumina powder as the main raw material and smelted at a temperature above 2000 ° C. It is white in color and has an alumina content of more than 98%. Its hardness is slightly higher than that of brown corundum, which contains a small amount of Impurities such as silicon oxide and iron oxide. Low-carbon white alumina is reprocessed in front of the furnace and special processes to reduce the residual carbon content in the white alumina, making the product non-pulverized, non-bursting, and tough. It is the preferred raw material in the abrasive and abrasive industry and refractory industry .

Application of White Fused Alumina in Refractories :

(1) Due to the characteristics of high hardness, good wear resistance and high strength, it is used in refractory materials for various reaction vessels and pipes and parts of chemical pumps; for mechanical parts, various molds, such as wire drawing molds, Bulletproof material, sealing die ring, etc.

(2) Because of its high temperature resistance, corrosion resistance, high strength, etc., the sliding nozzle of the pouring steel is used to smelt rare metals, special alloys, ceramics, and linings (walls and pipes) of ironmaking blast furnaces; Thermal antioxidant coating.

(3) Fused alumina insulation materials, such as corundum light bricks, corundum hollow balls and fiber products, castables, ramming materials, corundum refractory bricks, corundum refractory cement, are widely used in furnace walls and roofs of various high-temperature furnaces. Both high temperature resistance and thermal insulation.
