Introduce
Black silicon carbide is produced by smelting high purity petroleum coke and silica sand at high temperature in large resistance furnace.
Its hardness is higher than fused aluminum oxide but lower than boron carbide and synthetic diamond. The abrasives made of it are quite suitable for grinding cast iron and non-ferrous, finishing rock, leather, rubber, etc.
It is also broadly used in refractory and metallurgical materials.
